I've noticed in Ukraine that they have a lot of traditions, some of them are related to drinking (alcohol, not tea). Together with Magda and Vitalik we prepered a list of some rules you should follow when you drink in Ukraine or with Ukrainian people (even if it takes place in Lębork). Someone should write a handbook about it*. It could be useful.
1. Only a man is allowed to pour the alcohol into glasses**.
2. A glass has to be put on the table while pouring, or at least you have to put a finger under it to "pretend" a table.
3. Who started to pour alcohol, should pour it till the end (of the bottle? evening? life?)
4. You should make a toast with right hand...
5. ... except for 3rd, 9th and 17th (!!! anyone counts till the 17th round?) one, because they are for love (ohhhh... that's so sweet...) and you should use left hand, because on this side is your heart.
6. First toast is for hosts. Second for guests. Third for love (as mentioned before). But...
7. If you take part in a birthday party, the first toast is for the person whose birthday is celebrated, the second one for parents of this person, etc.
8. Do not eat anything between first and second shot. Do not take a break between first and second shot.
9. Empty bottle should be put under the table.
To my Ukrainian friends: if I forgot about something - let me know. If I got something wrong - let me know too.
*Maybe someone already did? Did anyone hear about it?
** What if it's a girl's party? They should ask a neighbour, pizza boy or a stranger on the street to open a bottle and pour the alcohol?
"Only a man is allowed to pour the alcohol into glasses". - Not always true.Pours a person, as a rule, who has an "easy hand", it means in the morning the heart will not hurt. This quality is checked by time))
OdpowiedzUsuń"Who started to pour alcohol, should pour it till the end (of the bottle? evening? life?)" There is a old good tradition - don't change a hand, which pour you). And if the person who has this hand is ready to do such procedure during all life why not?)))
